Leaked Jelly Bean Firmware for Samsung Galaxy S2 - I9100XXLSJ

Since quite some time, we have been hearing that our beloved Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone will be receiving the official Jelly Bean update near the end of November this year, and now we actually have a leaked test build, codenamed "I9100XXLSJ". This build was leaked yesterday by XDA forums member izap. This confirms that the official Kies update is on the way to our S2 phones. Those, like me, who can't wait for the official update can flash this leaked firmware and benefit from all the goods of Jelly Bean even before it is officially released.

Remember, this is a pre-released test/leaked build, so expect some minor bugs here and there. If your device gets stuck in boot loop after flashing this firmware, or if it can't get past the Samsung logo screen, it would require a data wipe/factory reset, in which case you will obviously lose all your data and settings, so make sure you back up your important stuff before going for flashing it. Lastly, flashing firmwares can potentially brick your device, so proceed at your own risk. Me, SamMobile, and izap cannot be held responsible for any damages that might ensue by doing this.

What's new?
  • The eagerly awaited TouchWiz Nature UX (same UI as Galaxy S3 and Note 2)
  • Buttery Smooth Performance & Great Stability (Thanks to Project Butter)
  • Samsung’s Cloud Services
  • Direct Call, Smart Stay and Pop-up Play Features
  • New Widgets from the Galaxy S III
  • 2 Home Screen Modes
  • New Notifications Bar
  • Google Now
Download and Installation

Important: This firmware is for the international variant of the Galaxy S2, i.e. I9100 only. Don't try to flash this on any other S2 model. Korean Galaxy S2 models M250S and M250K can also be flashed with this firmware, but only if they have already been converted to I9100. How to do the latter, though, is outside the scope of this guide. You can find your phone's model by going to "Settings > About Phone". Also, you can confirm it by looking at the sticker under the battery.
  • Download the zip package from here (includes firmware files & Odin 3.04; thanks to SamMobile for uploading it):
  • Extract the downloaded package using 7-Zip, for example.
  • Power off your phone.
  • Start your phone in 'Download Mode' by simultaneously pressing the 'Volume Down + Home + Power' buttons. Once you see the confirmation screen, press the 'Volume Up' button to confirm and enter 'Download Mode'.
  • Start Odin 3.04 on your PC (Windows application).
  • Connect phone in 'Download Mode' to the PC. One of the boxes in Odin should turn yellow once your phone is successfully detected.
  • Add "CODE_I9100XXLSJ.tar" to "PDA".
  • Add "MODEM_I9100XXLS6.tar" to "PHONE".
  • Add "CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1.tar" to "CSC".
  • Make sure "Re-Partition" is NOT ticked.
  • Click "Start" and wait patiently.
  • If successful, you will see a green "Pass" indicator in Odin after which your phone will automatically reboot. Once you see your home screen, you can disconnect the phone from PC and start using it.
  • If you see a red "Fail" indicator in Odin, don't panic. Disconnect the phone from PC, pull out battery and re-insert it. Start your phone in 'Download Mode' again, restart Odin, load all the related files and click "Start" again. Repeat these steps until you see the "Pass" indicator.

If you benefited from this and have an account at XDA forums, you can drop a 'Thanks' to izap for his effort.
