Speed Up your apt-get Downloads by using 'apt-fast'

apt-fast is a simple command line application which makes use of the Axel HTTP/FTP download accelerator and speeds up the download process by making use of multiple sources for one file. The author claims that it can speed up the whole process as much as 26 times.

It is now available via a Launchpad PPA. For installation, go to a Terminal and run:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tldm217/
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install apt-fast

Once installed, you just need to replace 'apt-get' to 'apt-fast' in your command syntax for example:

sudo apt-fast update
sudo apt-fast upgrade
sudo apt-fast install package-name
